Milestone

Today I have something to write about. I got into web stuff because I saw it as a way to afford to build a home studio. I achieved that a couple of years ago, and since then it's been a constant struggle to find time to practice production techniques. I'm something of a perfectionist and find it really hard to invest any time in creating things if they don't look or sound the best... It took me four years of learning programming before I attempted to make a game, even though games were the one thing I wanted to make using Flash. I simply just didn't want to make something pointless.

It's an affliction that disables me from exploring many avenues I'm sure, but I know what I want so as long as I'm on the path to achieving it, I don't mind being patient.

Four years without anything even approaching a finished track is pushing it though, and whilst I've been slowly learning mixing theory and music programming, I've not had anything of a milestone quite like this one :)

I've hyped it up enough now, so here is my first professional sounding recording since I left Uni with the goal 5 years ago:

Generator

- NB: it's by no means finished, taking a listener barely past the first breakdown, but it marks a bit of a leap in understanding of programming, mixing and mastering. There is lots to come with incidental sounds, arrangement, and some generative processes applied to the final arrangement, but have a listen and see what happens to yo ass.

Hope you like it!
